A Watched Pot

This is the cow that caused us considerable work and concern during our trip. She's the only one left to calve, and in the 24 hours prior to our visit she had started to show signs that she was ready. (lifted tail, tight udder, mucus stringing)
And so, several times every day I trooped outside to get a good look at this. Each and every time, she ignored us in that overly-calm way that cows ignore stupid, excitable people. Each and every time we found that there was absolutley no change.

Yeah. She was still pregnant when we left yesterday, and was still extremely calm and completely unconcerned about anything. No distress, no contractions, no nothing.
Drat the luck.

Too bad! Interesting to learn about calving.
