I gently suggested to my girl that she ask her grandmother to teach her how to sew. After all, I was about the same age when needle and thread were provided to me.
Grandma cut squares from fabric found in her stash.
Then the two arranged the squares into a pattern and Grandma started marking seams.
Then Grandma showed how to pin the squares together....
And how to use a needle and thread.
She sat at her own little sewing desk all afternoon....
working diligently and meticulously.
In the end, she was rewarded with success, and now when asked, she'll rather shyly tell you that she likes sewing better than knitting!
