The FO Parade - Day 3!

As promised....the girls' Christmas Sweaters!Julia Best Friend's Pullover (Ravelry link to my page.)
Yarn - Nashua Handknits Julia, kitted by Webs
Clasps from Schoolhouse Press
Needles: Addi Turbo circs, US 5 and 7
Time To Knit: Nov 20-30, 2010
Mods: First and foremost, this is a pullover in the original pattern, and I did quite a bit of monkeying with it to turn the whole thing into a cardigan. All of the details can be found on my Ravelry page. The only thing I can add is that I actually used the schematics from The Princess's cardigan to help me determine the size I wanted to make for the Pixie and to guide the alterations as the fit of the pullover was considerably shorter and more narrow than the cardigans. I must say that I'm pretty amazed with myself for busting this one out in 10 days!
Silly girl...she loves it, but she'd rather wear her swimsuit.

Child's Zip-Up Cardigan (Again, my ravelry project page)
also by Kristin Nicholas in Color By Kristin
Materials are all the same as above
Time to Knit: June 27 - November 19, 2010
Mods: The pattern was actually riddled with mistakes...and my solutions can be found on my ravelry project page. I found myself doing what a guild friend does - knitting largely from the picture and not the pattern. It was frustrating, but the end results were more than worth it.
She loves it so much that it's already showing signs of wear...and I've already had to repair one pulled float! Makes this mama proud.

Please do check out my Ravelry page if you would like more information about either sweater. I know that I have a lot of readers who aren't necessarily knitters, and so I just don't want to bog the blog down with the details...especially when the projects were so very complicated.

I will say, though, that the yarn - Nashua Handknit's Julia, which was created by Kristin Nicholas herself, is a delight. It was a pleasure to work with, and I'll definitely be using it again!

Love all the bright colors in these treasures. I'm so glad the girls like their sweaters and enjoy wearing them, even if it is with a swim suit.
