Using Our Words

I walked into my eldest daughter's room yesterday morning to find this on her art easel: Look closely at what it says in the bottom corner.

Before she went to school, I pulled the Princess to me, gave her a huge hug and told her how happy I was that she felt safe enough and comfortable enough to express her emotions. She told me this was her 'angry picture' and I responded by telling her that it was a very good way to express her anger. We talked about how it wasn't right to actually act out her negative emotions against her sister, but that it was perfectly ok to use her words and her art to let it all out when she needed to.
Sometimes I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job at this mothering thing.

You are doing a GREAT job as a mother!! Her self calming skill deserves to be used as an example in a parenting book!
