The Good Sameritan 5K

My 7-year-old walked and ran the entire thing.
Pixie - clearly bored - rode along in the bike trailer.
Me? Well....
Friday afternoon (after writing/publishing Saturday's post) I decided that the van needed a thorough cleaning. Turns out, it's not such a smart idea to try to remove the back bench seat all by one's self - no matter how many weights one has lifted over the last year. I managed to drop the thing on my right foot, which by race time was still swollen, had started to turn interesting colors and hurt like the dickens. I watched the race from a folding chair by the side of the road, knitting in hand.
But I still went and bought a bike that day...and I took it for it's inaugural ride today!
The Green Woman is VERY pleased indeed, and we laughed like children as we went down our first big hill together.
Oh, and my Dad - avid bicyclist of 30ish years - went with me and was impressed. For someone who really hasn't been on a bike in 22 years, I was very stable and apparently had great form. Dad was also impressed - and I think a bit surprised - with how strong my legs were....which gave me a very catlike sense of satisfaction, if I do say so myself!

You look very happy with your new bike. We enjoy ours from May to September and then put them away for the winter. Looking forward to long evening bike rides soon! I'm sorry about your foot injury. That sounds painful!
