The Funniest Thing Happened Yesterday
As I was trying to hurry the kids along for school yesterday, the Princess started to play with a gift that had just arrived - a Barnes & Noble gift card. Lest you think that small children don't like gift cards, let me assure you that my girl likes nothing better than her own money at the bookstore!
Anyway, she was telling me how happy she was about the card, showing me the details in the Fancy Nancy design while considering the possibilities of what she could buy with said card. I glanced over at her and thought to myself, "Wow, I wish I had a Barnes & Noble gift card. They are a lot of fun!" I shook my head, somewhat amused to be a touch jealous of my daughter, and moved on. The kids eventually made it to school, I went off to see my trainer, and I forgot all about that little voice in my head.
Fast forward to later in the afternoon.
On my way to pick up the Princess, I stopped at our mailbox for the mail. (I generally like to open it in the parent pick up line because it does pass the time.) Anyway, there was an envelope from Barnes & Noble. "How odd," I thought.
Then I opened it...and found a gift card for me! I have to admit to laughing out loud as my earlier little conversation with myself came back to me.
The card is a thank you gift from my friend Shelda, and it certainly did help to lift my spirits in what had become a stressful afternoon.
Thanks Shelda!
I imagine it will probably be used for a knitting book....

I'd been meaning to do that for months now.
