I Give

Do you remember this? I wouldn't be surprised if many of you were scratching your heads right about now. I did, after all, purchase this gorgeous fabric TWO YEARS ago from the quilt shop back in my home town. The pattern I selected was a fairly simple pattern - one that I should easily have been able to manage by myself. I was so excited that Mom and immediately washed the fabric and had all of the pieces cut out by the time the girls and I had to head home.
Which makes it even more pathetic that the fabric has since done nothing but sit in a drawer...waiting.
The sad fact of the matter is that I'm just not a quilter....at least not right now.
So when I packed last Friday for a weekend visit to Mom and Dad's farm, I took the bag of pieces with me. Before I had a chance to talk to Mom about it, she had sniffed it out with her magical quilting senses and had sat down to read through the pattern. Just as I have trouble passing by pretty yarn or fiber, she can't resist beautiful fabric. Mom's already volunteered to start doing the more fiddly piecing, and when I next go to visit we'll sit down and decide exactly who's going to do what work.
While I do feel a smidge defeated by this project, I also feel a great deal of relief. Soon enough I will have a completed quilt, and with that no longer hanging over my head I'll feel free to move on to other projects which I truly want to do.

Love the fabric colors and patterns. Quilting is a good group activity, whether the group is two or great.

Unfinished projects do have a way of hanging over us, don't they?
