Where I Am Right Now
Llama...up close and personal!
Beware of stinky llama breath...
- I did indeed finish the knitting on the Princess shawl last week.
- Then I promptly put the whole thing in a bag, and tossed it into a corner.
- This is pretty par for the course for me....could take months for the finish work and blocking to actually happen.
- We'll hope for better, though.
- In the meantime, I'm back to work on the one and only project I've ever let languish on the needles for more than a year without any progress.
- I started my Tibetan Clouds stole almost two years ago....and after great consideration back in February decided I liked it enough to finish it. (Ordinarily when a project sits for so long I lose interest, and repurpose the yarn.)
- In the last week I've almost completed the second third of the stole.
- Hopefully I'll finish the whole thing asap, because I would like to move on to something new.
- Do you know how long it's been since I started something new? Other than socks?
- Seriously, it's time.
- Let's see....what else....
- The girls caught and tied the lambs twice this weekend, and we're all amazed with just how quickly the lambs are catching on to their new roles as show sheep.
- Small girls + spotty lambs + leashes and collars = more cute than you can possibly believe!
- Our real purpose for the visit to the farm was to spend time with my brother, who we just don't get to see often enough. The girls adore their Unkie Erin, and I believe they wore him out!
- The only bad note for the entire weekend was the fact that I didn't sleep well at all. In fact, I'm pretty wrecked today, so I am taking it easy.
- I did enjoy a stormy morning ensconced in my parents' sun room with my knitting. Very enjoyable, and oddly peaceful.
- Last week I finally managed to get my workout schedule back on track. I'm trying for more fun and less repetitive this time around.
- I also made a slight switch in my diet last week....shifting from purely allergy diet to paleo.
- Amazing how much easier it is with the slight modifications to a paleo lifestyle. While most people think it's incredibly restrictive, I'm finding it freeing.
- Plus, most of the people online who are big in the paleo world are also fitness nuts....and so I'm getting lots of good info about how to support the type of exercise I want to do given my food requirements. That has honestly been a missing piece for me for the last six months.
- So with a week of paleo, I'm eating clean once again and am starting to feel really, really good.
- Except for that no sleep thing....
- Other tidbits:
- Last week one of my favorite professors passed away. Even though I haven't seen him in close to 15 years I'm still mourning him. I spent about three years babysitting his children and in and out of classes taught by both him and his wife. (Actually, I met her first, and count her as one of my most trusted advisers and best supporters during those years.) They treated me as one of the family, and I have many fond memories of them all. Besides, he was quite literally one of the most brilliant men I've ever known. It's all very sad.
- My dream life has been incredibly rich lately....but I've not been writing about it much. That's just odd.
- Mom gave me more hen and chicks starts for my strawberry pot. Dratted squirrels dug up and stole them all last year, burrying nuts in their place. I've not figured out how to prevent that from happening again.
- Sean completed work on new landscaped retaining walls in our front yarn this last weekend. He did an incredible job, and now it's my part to fill them in with new bushes.
- Too bad I don't know much about outdoor plants....
- Speaking of which, I really need to put in my herb garden!
- And though I could probably go on for ages and ages, this is probably enough for now!
